Vetsie’s founders have diverse backgrounds in veterinary care, human medicine, and technology. Most importantly, we share a common mission of creating a better, more accessible world of care for our pets.

Alex Chieng
Business Strategy & Marketing
Alex has been a tech entrepreneur with experience in co-founding startups and building businesses for the last 7 years. Alex has had great success building consumer marketplaces and currently leads business strategy at Vetsie. As an animal lover himself, Alex co-founded Vetsie to ensure that vet care would become accessible to all pet parents, anywhere, anytime. He is also a proud graduate of the world's largest pre-seed accelerator at the Founder Institute.
Alyssa Borden, RVT
Veterinary Strategy & Operations
Alyssa is a registered veterinary technologist with a comprehensive background in both emergency and general practice medicine. She is an advocate for career longevity & well-being within the industry and leads our veterinary strategy. Alyssa helped build our marketplace of professionals across 5 provinces and counting across Canada. She is also a proud graduate of the Leap Ventures Studio Program, one of the worlds leading Pet Care Accelerator Programs.
Dr. Steve Boyer, DVM
Chief Veterinarian & Vet Strategy
Dr. Steve Boyer is a practicing small animal veterinarian and Co-Founder of Vetsie. He graduated from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and has worked in both emergency and primary care. Steve focuses on the veterinary strategy and collaboration with veterinary professionals across Canada and beyond. He is motivated to ‘bridge the gap’ between pet care and veterinary accessibility.
Claire Lam
Chief Technology Officer & Engineering
Claire Lam in the past year has been consulting for multiple start-ups launching 3 different apps live on the market today. She has had 5 years in the start-up space, with 1 successful exit. Her experience ranges from development, design and UX, technology leadership (hiring, vision, investor relationships, customer relationship). She studied Medicine and Computer Engineering, has a Master, Computer Science, and has a certificate in UX design.

Samarth Chandola
Samarth Chandola is the Founder and Partner at First Fund VC. He has invested in over 30 technology startups, helping create hundreds of jobs in the process.
Marc Bombenon
Marc Bombenon is a serial entrepreneur and served on public and private boards including not-for-profit and health-related boards. He is currently the Founder and Executive Chairman at SureCall.
Dr. Jonathan Leicht
Dr. Jonathan Leicht is the Chief Operating Officer at Mosaic Veterinary Partners. He had the privilege to lead a team of over 500 amazing veterinary professionals in Canada.
Dr. Andrew Findlaytor
Dr. Andrew Findlaytor is the Director of Veterinary Strategy at Roo.Vet. He is an experienced Director with a strong track record of working in animal health care and marketplaces.
